Taoiseach rules out possibility of pre-Christmas lockdown
The Taoiseach has ruled out the possibility of another lockdown before Christmas.
NPHET has urged people to cut their social contacts due to the high number of Covid cases.
The Health Minister has said the government is not considering covid checks to access gyms and hairdressers or a return of the work from home policy.
Taoiseach Micheal Martin says it’s unlikely restrictions will be reintroduced.
“I don’t see a dramatic going back, or returning to where we were.
“But because of socialisation, because we have reopened society, and with the delta variant that has resulted in very high case numbers,
“I don’t see Christmas lockdowns, no, but we may have to imaginatively look at how we behave and how we manage events and so on.”
