Taoiseach Says Department Of Housing Will Spend Budget By End Of Year
Taoiseach Micheál Martin says the Department of Housing is confident it will spend its budget by the end of the year.
For the first half of 2022, it’s underspent by 200 million euro – despite the deepening housing crisis.
It’s believed some projects are being put-off due to construction inflation and the rise in the cost of living.
Micheál Martin says it all will be spent:
“First of all, it’s a mid-year outcome, so to the end of the year, we want to make sure we spend what we’ve allocated. Although, as you know, some can be moved into next year – in terms of projects. We’re spending about 4 billion per annum now on housing. The Minister of Housing is confident we can catch up on that, and that that money will get spent before the year is out”.
