Taoiseach says it’s unacceptable that Covid restrictions are continuing for pregnant women and their partners
Guidelines have been put in place in maternity units nationwide to allow for access during some appointments, labour and C sections.
But couples say they’re not being following in many cases.
Cork Sinn Fein TD Donnchadh Ó Laoghaire, who has been very vocal on the matter, says pregnant women continue to be forgotten and they feel very let down. He says the stress and isolation they’re facing is not being given the attention it deserves from the Government
He says the Health Minister needs to intervene to allow pregnant women to be supported by their partners at appointments and scans in a safe manner
Taoiseach Micheál Martin says the restrictions around maternity care shouldn’t be happening.
