A taxi company CEO says his industry should be no different to others when it comes to accepting card payments.
The National Transport Authority says taxi drivers will have to provide a cashless facility from the 1st of September.
That’s also when a 12 per cent rise in fares will take effect.
CEO OF NXT Taxis, Vinny Kearns says he’s already brought in a cashless payment system:
“First of all, we set up our company in 2005. And we introduced that back in 2005. I can’t see why that wasn’t done a long time ago. I think everywhere you go now, people are producing cards. So why should it be any different than taxis?”
