Taxi fares to rise by 12% from September

It’s hoped an increase in taxi fares will help entice drivers to work busy weekend evenings.
A survey carried out by the National Transport Authority found 93% of drivers were working but less than 30% were undertaking shifts at night.
David McGuinness, chair of Tiománaí Tacsaí Na hÉireann, told the Journal that a new fare structure may encourage taxis to cover more unsocial hours.
The cost of cab journeys is set to rise by 12% on average from September 1st.
