The telecoms regulator is reportedly following UK steps in an attempt to tackle the scourge of scam callers.
People across the country have complained about a flood of phone calls from fake numbers, with some making bogus claims that the receiver has broken the law.
UK regulator OFCOM is setting up a system with phone service providers there to block numbers made from abroad, but showing a British number in the caller ID.
A Comreg statement to the Independent says it’s working closely with other groups to minimise the impact of so-called ‘nuisance communications.’
