Paralympic Games is coming to an end at a ceremony in Tokyo this afternoon
It’s been a successful year for the Irish team, who return home with 4 gold medals, 2 silver and 1 bronze.
Gold medal winners include Jason Smyth, Ellen Keane and Katie-George Dunlevy and Eve McCrystal.
Eimear Breathnach, President of Paralympics Ireland, says this years games really captured the imagination of the Irish public:
“The number of times I’ve had people kind of asking how are our Paralympians doing so that real understanding is there, I saw in St. Ann’s park yesterday there a reason the Paralympic flag for Ellen Keane and so many people don’t realise that there’s a different flag for the Paralympics. So for that recognition is fantastic. I think that really has captured the public’s mind.”
