A man was rushed to hospital last night following an alleged serious stabbing incident in the city.

The incident is believed to have occurred in an apartment on John Redmond Street shortly before 9pm.

A post mortem is expected to take place today on the body of a toddler who died after being struck by a car in a driveway of a house.

It happened in Skibbereen in west Cork, shortly after 5pm yesterday.

Gardaí seized €20,000 of suspected cannabis following a search operation at a house in the Ard Carrig area of Fermoy yesterday.

The search was conducted by Customs, Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau, Fermoy Detective and Drugs Unit, Cork City Dog Unit
and the Armed Support Unit.

A group of fishermen based in West Cork are planning a peaceful protest to disrupt a Russian Military Exercise due to take place off the Irish coast in early February.

In a statement to RedFM news the Fishermen of the South & West Fish Producers Organisation say they are implementing a plan to prevent catastrophic environmental damage from the proposed exercise.
