- Incoming Taoiseach Leo Varadkar says he would support a request to arm Gardaí. Speaking to today's Irish Mail on Sunday - he says he would not block a request to arm the rank-and-file if the move was sought by Garda Commissioner Drew Harris.
- A man in his seventies has been killed in an accident in County Kerry. Emergency services were alerted after he was injured on a farm in Carrigeen in Brosna yesterday.
- Rescue teams are continuing to search for people thought to be missing after landslides on the Italian island of Ischia. At least one woman's died, and around a dozen others are still unaccounted for.
- Thousands of people are expected to attend Vicky Phelan's memorial service in County Kilkenny today. A shuttle bus service is being laid on for those travelling to her hometown of Mooncoin for the event.
