Cork is marking the national day of recognition for Ireland's frontline services today.

Up to 50 frontline service vehicles are expected to drive a 50km loop through Cork city and suburbs, while a flotilla of vessels from the Naval Service and Coast Guard will travel into the city centre from Monkstown and as fly-over by the Air Corps also takes place.

The Social Democrats say the HSE's updated maternity guidelines are establishing a two-tier system.

The guidelines published yesterday, state women in multi-bed wards will be limited to 2-hour daily visits, while no visiting restrictions will apply to women in a private room.

The continued growth in students undertaking STEM or science, technology, engineering and maths in the Leaving Cert, is great news for the Country.

That's the view of Engineers Ireland after it was revealed that 101,306 students undertook STEM subjects this year, a 5% increase on 2020.

Clonakilty has been named as one of the Top 20 Best Places to live in Ireland.

The West Cork town is in the running for the overall title following the publication of the long list.

The Top 5 finalists will be named in mid-September with the overall winner announced on Sat Sept 25th.
