Theatres confident demand for tickets will be strong

The performing arts industry in Cork are confident that demand for tickets will be strong when theatres reopen.

Rehearsals for the play “Philadelphia, Here I Come” are getting underway at the Cork Opera House in the coming days, while the Everyman Theatre will open on the 23rd of September with the play, “Heart of a Dog”….

It’s hoped the reopening of live indoor events will give actors, producers, theatre staff and the hospitality trade a much needed boost following lockdown.

Speaking to RedFM News, producer of “Philadelphia, Here I Come”, Patrick Talbot says live performance is an important part of people’s lives.

“Arts events, stand up comedy, music, rock and roll – we’ve been starved of it for nearly two years.

“I think there’s an appetite, I think there’s a hunger and I think audiences will greatly welcome the news.

“I’m really looking forward to seeing this production, and seeing and engaging with audiences again.”
