Thousands left waiting over 24 hours in Emergency Departments in 2022

Over 35,000 people waited over 24 hours in emergency departments in the first seven months of this year.

It includes nearly 12,000 people over the age of 75, according to freedom of information figures.

The average waiting time in an ED, before admission or discharge, was over seven hours for all age-groups.

Donegal GP Ciarán Ó Fearraigh says it’s a longstanding problem.
