Thousands more 12 to 15 year olds will receive their first dose of a Covid vaccine today
Queues formed outside clinics yesterday despite rain in many parts of the country, with about 75 thousand children registered.
Almost 3.5 million first doses have been administered here in total.
UCD Professor of Infectious Disease Dr Jack Lambert says vaccines are a vital step in getting back to normal:
“We’ve had 18 months now, of, you know lockdown and restrictions and everybody’s kind of paid the price for that, and vaccines are not the only solution but they’re a critical part of the solution for us getting on with with life, whether it be schoolwork or whether it be opening up, You know the economy or opening up travel.”
