Three new fire engines for County Cork

The new fire engines will be based at Fermoy, Carrigaline and Skibbereen.

Crews from the stations respond to around 400 emergency calls every year and provide cover for a population of 70,000 people.

Each fire engine can accommodate eight crew and is fitted with an 1,800 litre water tank.

The station in Fermoy is also equipped with an Emergency Tender appliance to respond to crashes on the M8 motorway.
