Three people taken to hospital following fight at Dublin refugee centre

A group supporting asylum seekers says people were scared when a fight broke out at a refugee centre in Citywest, Dublin.

Three people were taken to hospital after a fight broke out between a group of men at around half six yesterday evening.

The Movement of Asylum Seekers in Ireland has condemned the disturbance at the Citywest transit hub.

But the organisation’s Lucky Khambule says it’s inevitable as the accommodation is seriously overcrowded.

“That act was bound to happen when you put people so close to each other, from various backgrounds and nationalities and religious beliefs.

“Also it’s the fact that people are there with nothing to do, day in and day out.”
