Tipperary couple may have been dead for a year
A couple in their 70s may have been dead for a year before being discovered yesterday afternoon in Co Tipperary.
Their bodies were found at a house in Cloneen, between Fethard and Mullinahone – but no foul play is suspected.
The alarm was raised by local residents, who hadn’t seen the couple for a long time.
Ralph Riegel, from the Irish Independent, says it’s not known for certain how long they were dead.
“What the Gardai are saying is that it’s a consdierable period of time, I’m told that’s at least several weeks – it could potentially be more than that.
“One of the major things the Gardai are trying to do is to determine when this couple was last season, so what they’re doing is asking people with any information to contact them.”
A statement from the Gardai read:
“Gardaí are investigating all circumstances following the discovery of two bodies on Monday, 20th June 2022 in Cloneen, Co.Tipperary.
“The bodies of an elderly man and elderly woman were discovered at a domestic residence earlier this afternoon.
“The scene remains preserved at this time and an examination by the Garda Technical Bureau will take place later this evening.
“The offices of the State Pathologist have been notified.”
