Tourism Minister wants to make it easier to report pubs and restaurants not checking Covid certs

It comes after the hospitality sector called for stronger sanctions against pubs and restaurants who breach Covid regulations as they say the public would feel safer knowing regulations were being policed

Minister Catherine Martin says people can currently do so through the HSE helpline.

But the Minister wants to make it more streamlined to ensure compliance with the regulations:

“I think it may be useful to tailor the helpline to allow members of the public to report specific instance in a more targeted manner. So this would be something that will communicate to the Department of Health because obviously the HSE lies under the Department of Health, but it will be a subject of discussion between officials in my in the Department of Health Department enterprise Trade and Employment and and my own department.”
