UCC To Return Mummy From ‘Heritage Collection’ To Egypt

University College Cork is to return a mummy from its ‘heritage collection’ to Egypt, next year.

A sarcophagus, a set of four Canopic jars, and other items dating from between 975BC to 100AD are also being returned.

The mummy was donated to the college by the ‘African Missions’ on the Blackrock Road in 1928

There is a growing movement of countries looking for their historical treasures to be returned to their place of origin.
