UK: Senior Health Bosses Calling On British Government To Declare “National Major Incident” For Entire Health Service

Senior health bosses in Britain are calling on the UK government to declare a “national major incident” for the entire health service.

It’s understood that at least six Hospital Trusts are currently dealing with critical incidents – which means they cannot function as usual – and almost half say they are struggling to cope.

Ian Higginson’s the vice-president of the Royal College of Emergency Medicine in the UK and says urgent and emergency care’s under “dreadful strain”:

“It’s the worst that I can ever remember it in my memory. And for most of us, it’s the worst that any of us can remember. We’re dealing with absolutely intolerable pressure and it’s affecting both our patients and our staff”.
