US drop Covid-19 test requirement for air travellers
The United States’ requirement for all air passengers to provide a negative Covid-19 test before departure, expired this morning.
It follows heavy lobbying from airlines and the travel industry.
Eoghan Corry of Air and Travel Magazine, says it’s a welcome development for those travelling to and from the U.S:
“This allows major destinations, out of Ireland that still require to testing. We did expect the announcement last week it’s been in, President Biden’s office for a little while, but as of today, no antigen tests required. It was a little bit dramatic because people were getting tests, less than 24 hours before they flew a lot of people coming to the airport and doing the test, but not quite sure that we’re going to board the flight.”
