Winter storm in US kills at least 20 people

A winter storm sweeping across the US has cut vital power and water supplies and killed at least 20 people.

Texas has been badly hit – it’s experiencing some of its coldest temperatures in 30 years.

More than 3,000,000 homes and businesses in the state are without electricity.

Houston’s Mayor, Sylvester Turner, says people should expect supplies to be sporadic.

“Power will not be restored fully I would say for another couple of days.

“What they are doing now is having rolling blackouts, where power may come on for a few hours and then go off for a few hours.”
