Woman fighting for her life after road traffic collision in Cork

A young woman is fighting for life after a road traffic collision in Cork city in the early hours of this morning.

Emergency services were called to the Anglesea Street area at around 2 am where a taxi had collided with a cyclist.

The cyclist – a 19 year old woman – was taken to Cork University Hospital where she is in a critical condition. The driver of the car wasn’t injured.

The site of the collision at the junction of Anglesea St. and Union Quay has been closed while a Garda forensic collision examination is carried out and traffic is being diverted.

Gardai are appealing for witnesses and are particularly appealing to anyone in the area at the time who may have dash-cam footage to come forward.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Anglesea Street Garda Station on 021 – 452 2000, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station.
