Zelenskyy releases defiant video message

The Ukrainian president has released a defiant video message – revealing his location in Kyiv.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy is still basing himself in his office and says he’ll continue to do so for “as long as necessary” – insisting he isn’t afraid of anyone.

Ukraine’s military says Russian missile and air strikes have been ongoing – but they claim Moscow’s advance has slowed significantly.

The Kremlin has said there will be ceasefires this morning to allow safe routes to be setup, which will mean citizens can get out of 4 Ukrainian cities.

Russia’s ambassador to the United Nations has insisted once out then people can go wherever they want. Kyiv initially condemned the plan – claiming it would push civilians into Russia or its ally Belarus.

Intelligence services say Russia is continuing to target evacuation routes in Ukraine – leading to civilian deaths.
