Two men who escaped from an open prison in County Cavan yesterday, are back in detention after they were arrested by Gardai in Cork.
The breakout happened less than two weeks after a prisoner absconded from the facility, and remains on the run.
The two men, both aged in their early twenties, absconded from Loughan house, an open prison in Co. Cavan in the early hours of Saturday morning.
The Prison Service notified Gardaí, who arrested both men in County Cork, after they attempted to steal a vehicle.
It's understood a convicted drug dealer who escaped from the same prison the week before last, remains at large.
Loughan house is one of just 2 open prisons in the country, the other being Shelton Abbey in Wicklow.
There have been calls for better screening of prisoners being sent to the facility in Cavan.
