Protesters and Gardaí clashed in Roscrea, County Tipperary as asylum seekers were brought to the town.
At noon, members of the Garda Public Order Unit provided a cordon at the Racket Hall Hotel to facilitate the transport of international protection applicants to the facility.
During the course of the operation, one person was arrested under the Public Order Act.
The individual has since been released without charge, and a file will be prepared for the DPP.
A Garda presence remains at the centre.
