The Public Expenditure Minister says today's budget is about helping people meet the cost of living while protecting important public services.
Budget 2024 will be unveiled at lunchtime today.
It will contain changes to USC, a 12 euro weekly increase for pensioners and those on welfare, supports for renters and those trying to cope with increasing mortgage interest rates, along with supports for businesses.
Minister Paschal Donohoe says while there will be something for everyone, they have to be careful but it won't be a 'conservative' budget:
"The amount of growth in day to day public spending is at a lower pace than the budget that was brought forward for last year. And also the one off measures that we have brought forward have been changed to reflect the fact that while inflation is still present in all of our lives, it is growing at a slower pace than it did a year ago. So the budget is of a different scale, but it is still by historical standards a big budget."
