The proposed reopening coincides with the return of Cork's first big festival - The Guinness Cork Jazz Festival over the long weekend - but coincides with a deterioration in the Covid situation as numbers are rising place a "significant burden~ on the health service
NPHET is due to meet on Monday and will advise the Government based on the current Covid-19 data
Members of the hospitality sector across Cork are preparing to open as normal with stock ordered, staff in place and bookings being taken from the public
Michael Farrell who owns Farrell's Summerfield Bar in Youghal told RedFM News that will they have to prepare as they are concerned that the full reopening could be delayed:
"At the moment we're reduced down to about 60% capacity, with no stools at the bar, and tablet service only, there's no standing here either. So I mean it is having a serious impact on business at the moment, I don't think they should keep the industry shut down because of the non vaccinated people, you know, I mean, we should be allowed to reopen and work away as normal."
