Less people are buying houses in Cork City due to high cost and remote working.
That's according to a Real Estate Alliance Spokesperson who says there's been more of an increase in the sale-price of homes in Cork County than closer to the city.
The sale-price of a three-bed semi-detached home in Cork city has risen by 1.5% to €335,000 in the last quarter.
While prices in Cork County have risen by by 4.9% to €203,000 in the past three months according to the REA Average House Price Survey, which looks at the actual sale price of the average Irish home.
Speaking to RedFM news, REA Group Spokesperson Barry McDonald says people don't feel the need to be close to work anymore:
"So, what we're seeing when you really analyse the figures is agents around the country are starting to experience situations where people are leaving the cities, in search of perhaps better lifestyle certainly more space. And to a large extent, affordability, people are beginning to look at their options and say well I don't actually need to be as close to the office of traditionally we all felt we needed to."
