Regional airports need investment and support from the state, not Dublin.
The call's being made by TD Brian Leddin, who says Dublin Airport's expansion plan 'doesn't make sense'.
He says balanced development is needed in this country by investing in our regional infrastructure.
Deputy Leddin who's the Green party transport spokesperson says it's important to link trains up with Shannon Airport:
"If you've linked Shannon to the national railway network and you had a train service, let's say every half hour, that would get you to Galway, Limerick or Cork in quite a fast time, then, of course, Shannon would be a very attractive airport for passengers and for airlines as well".
