The Rural Development Minister says there will be more funding for rural areas in the years to come.

31 new walking trails in 13 counties have been announced, bringing the national total to 80.

Here in Cork approval has been given to 50km of walkway at Slí Gaeltacht Mhuscraí winding over 16 landholdings and roadway.

There are also two new Rural Recreation Officer posts for Cork to support groups developing local walks and amenities for rural recreation.

Rural and Community Development Minister, Heather Humphreys, says remote working should help rejuvenate rural Ireland.

"There's been huge investment through our rural future.

"One of the big game changers for rural Ireland will be remote working hubs. They can come into their local town and work remotely.

"You can see people who are working for multi national companies - they don't have to be in their headquarters."
