Residents at local authority housing on Noonan's Road say their human rights have been violated after living in damp, moldy and rat invested accommodation.
Around 164 council tenants on Noonan's Road, St Finnbar's Road, Fort Street and Dean Street have been told that the City Council hope to demolish and redevelop the site.
Tenants will be relocated and have the option of staying at their new accommodation permanently or returning to the new development once it's built.
Speaking to RedFM News, William O'Brien of the Noonan's Road Residents Association says families with young children need to be moved first:
"We have families that are hoping to leave as soon as possible. Their children are still in buggies, their properties have been invested and still ongoing. Everybody can see that it's, you know, a human rights issue. So it's the onus is on Cork City Council to really take action. It's actually a hazard living in this flats complex in a local area."
