The Magazine Road and Surrounding Areas Residents Association say over 100 people gathered on Highfield Avenue before before were eventually dispersed by Gardaí.
RedFM News has seen videos of Highfield Avenue from last night which show a large crowd of people drinking and partying on the street.
Residents say that bottles were thrown at peoples feet and there was broken glass on the road.
This week marks the start of the first ever 'Sophomore Week', as second year students return to campus for the first time since March 2020.
Speaking to RedFM News, Catherine Clancy from the Magazine Road and Surrounding Areas Residents Association says they are due to meet the President of UCC this evening:
"What we had in our area last night were scenes of criminal behaviour, and as a consequence of that- as residents now we are calling on the students and young people who were there last night, that ASBOs be be served on them, and we're meeting with the President of UCC this evening- myself and a number of residents, and we'll be calling on those students to be expelled. Nothing else apart from expulsion is warranted here. You couldn't go to into any other community around the city and behave like this."
Meanwhile, in a statement issued to RedFM News, UCC say they work with the Students' Union to promote awareness and adherence to public health guidelines and the wider responsibility to the community.
They say the vast majority of their 22,000 students have shown remarkable resilience in the face of the unprecedented challenge of the pandemic.
The University says UCC Campus Watch is in place to receive any allegations of breaches of their Student Rules.
