Shop owners in Midleton say they’re swapping sandbags for Christmas lights this weekend.
The town will kickstart Christmas by collecting thousands of sandbags before the festive lights are officially switched on, on Sunday.
The Lord Mayor of Cork is encouraging people to come into the town and support local businesses after recent flooding during Storm Babet.
Speaking to RedFM News, Sinead Morrisey from Bertelli Menswear says business owners in Midleton need support now more than ever:
"When I think of what we arrived into on the 19th of October after the storm of the 18th it was just pure destruction. It was hard to think that we could have cleaned it up so much since but we have and we are open for business. We are already giving all our deliveries are coming back into the we are ready to help make your Christmas, a great Christmas"
