Over 3.4 million cigarettes, with an estimated value of €2.9 million euro, have been seized at the Port of Cork.
It was one of a number of high-value seizures by Revenue officers at locations around the country in recent days.
The illicit cigarettes were detected when Revenue officers stopped and searched an unaccompanied trailer that had arrived from Belgium.
A man in his 20s was questioned in relation to the seizure.
