The Samaritans say their listening service is extremely busy and are calling for anyone interest in volunteering to contact them.
The emotional support service is opening a new hub in Clonakilty and will be hosting information nights next Wednesday at the Celtic Ross Hotel and next Thursday at O'Donovans Hotel in Clonakilty.
Full training will be provided for volunteers who will also represent the charity at events like festivals and concerts in West Cork over the summer.
Speaking to RedFM News, Jon Spencer from Cork Samaritans says many people are struggling at the moment.
"We want to be able to extend the service so it will be open longer.
"Factors that affect people's lives are things that cause stress and cause distress.
"Sometimes people don't have anywhere or anyone to share that distress with, and Samaritans are here 24/7 on 116123 to take those calls, and to provide emotional support for people who are feeling distressed."
