A school principal in Cork says it's up to parents to make sure children aren't vaping.
Recently it became illegal for vapes to be sold to under 18's.
Principals say it's much more difficult to catch a student vaping instead of smoking cigarettes because they look like highlighter pens and don't smell like tobacco.
Speaking to RedFM News, Principal of Colaiste Eamann Ris in Cork, Aaron Wolfe says children's pocket money should be monitored:
"Like we did long ago with smoking, you'd try to make sure teenagers weren't smoking and have a conversation at home. Teenagers get their money from parents. So that's another way to monitor it. Make sure your child isn't spending their money on vaping. It costs about €8 to buy a vape so they're having that conversation. Where is your where's your pocket money going? How's it going so quickly?"
