Just €13 million has been set aside to carry out essential repairs and road restoration works in the aftermath of last October's storm
It's estimated that the works will be closer to €50 million leaving a €37 million shortfall in funding
Engineers had previously warned that without sufficient funding some roads across the county will not reopen for another year at least
Speaking to RedFM News County Mayor Frank O'Flynn admits the allocation is disappointing
"It is disappointing that we sought €26 million this year and €26 million next year - it will take two years to carry out all the repairs. We have quite a lot of work done at the moment, we expected to get €26 million this year, we have €13 million. We made the minister aware, and we are seeking an enhanced severe weather allocation for Midleton to carry out essential road repairs and restoration"
