The Sexual Violence Centre Cork say they are looking to form a partnership with a hospital or lab to allow people who think they may have been victims of drink spiking to confirm it.

The city based charity say they will be making submissions on new legislation aimed at tackling drink spiking to ensure it covers all forms of spiking.

Justice Minister Simon Harris has asked the Government not to oppose an amendment that would make it a new offence with a maximum ten year prison sentence.

Speaking to RedFM News, Mary Crilly outlines what they are hoping to do.

"There was a young woman in England who was spiked, and was able to design a kit that she was able to send to various people and is available in various pubs in the area she lives in.

"People are able to test themselves, it goes back to the lab and they do their tests - it's not for a criminal case or anything.

"We're trying to talk to her, as it seems to be working well.

"Spiking has really gone beyond a joke."
