Ger chats to Dave on the back of the Minor Ladies Footballers All-Ireland victory over Galway, and ahead of a triple header in Croke Park with both Cork Intermediates and Senior Camogie teams in the hunt for All-Ireland titles. Christine on preparing for her first Tour De Munster & on how her brother Damien benefits from the money raised
Christine and Damien are both from Garryvoe in East Cork. 20 year old Damien has Down Syndrome he will be one of the many people benefitting from the funds collected in this years Tour De Munster in aid of Down Syndrome Ireland’s Munster Branches. Christine will be participating in in the 600 km 4 day charity cycle this year. She is new to cycling and only starting training in March. To date the event has raised 4 million and they are hoping to raise more with your generosity. Allowing projects such as projects such as “Field Of Dreams” (a horticultural site based in Curraheen) to be created. The event takes place on Thursday August 4th. Tadhg on his starring role in John B Keane’s “Letters Of A Country Postman” @ Everyman Theatre
Comedian and former member of CCCahoots Tadhg Hickey took time away from his rehearsal  of the John B Keane play – Letters Of A Country Postman to talk up the merits of the show. Despite his renowned comedic background he plays a straight role as Postman Mocky Fondoo. It tells the tale of how the Postman is a pivotal part of what glues the community together and as well as being the only person that some people could speak to all day. It was wrote in 1975 however there’s still a number of themes that apply to the modern day. The play also stars; Accordionist Danny O’ Mahony as well as Madi O’Carroll and Chloe O’ Reilly who take on numerous roles through out.   The play runs from August 10-27th get your tickets at: LETTERS OF A COUNTRY POSTMAN | The Everyman Cork | 5-27 AUG 2022

Bunny talks about an event that came about from the death of his son Cian
Bunny chats to Dave about how suicide impacts those left behind after the death of their loved ones. The event is aimed at raising awareness of this matter, in the form of the Cuddle Run. Bunny will be hopping on his son Cian’s bike, a side from raising awareness the event is to raise some much needed funding for a centre that is functioning but a slightly run down facility they have in Middleton. They’re looking to improve it and enhance the services they can provide such as : Mindfulness, bereavement support groups as well as any other systems that may be needed. This all came about when Bunny came to the realisation that there were no services available for Bunny with he was grieving his son Cian’s death in 2009. Bunny on The Cuddle Run fundraiser for Midleton Hub
Bunny talks to Dave about the Cuddle Run that is raising awareness of suicide prevention & support and funds for the Midleton Hub. It provides help to those suffering from suicide bereavement. Sponsor a brick for €100 to help redevelop facilities at the Hub. The target figure is €100,000. Bunny’s own son. Bunny’s objective is to go through 32 counties in 32 days, on his son Cian’s motorbike. Cian sadly died through suicide. The Red FM roadshow will be there next Monday from 11.30 am for a 1pm start. Ray chats ahead of Two Time Polka’s performance at Spraoi in Waterford
Ray and his band Two Time Polka will be performing at Spraoi in Waterford this weekend. They are an eclectic band playing music from all around the world. Ray and Two Time Polka have been going to the famous street arts festival for years. Featuring Street Theatre and Comedy throughout the streets of Waterford on the Friday and Saturday, ending with a parade on Sunday. And…It’s free!! Goldie Bron$on talks up new track “Far Apart”
Goldie is a 21 year old musician from Cork City. Far Apart is the first song he recorded under a label, this particular tune has been recorded under a Canadian Label with the assistance of German DJ Kenage. The song was inspired by lockdown and the fact that everyone was so “Far Apart”. It’s also about a girl from Australia who was texting Goldie and despite the fact that she is on the other side of the world living a different life the lockdown is a global thing that everyone is going through. Goldie is heavily influenced by Hip-Hop as well other numerous genres. Konrad talks about the Family Fun Day as part of Cork LGBT Plus Pride Festival this Sunday
Konrad talks up the Family Fun Day happening this Sunday as part of Cork LGBT Plus Pride. It kicks off a whole week of celebrations. There over 30 events as part of the festival this year. The Family Fun Day is taking place in Fitzgerald’s Park, incorporated into the event this year is Prides Got Talent, with a cash prize of €500 and the opportunity to perform on the pride mainstage on Sunday 31st. Also on display will be a number of drag acts and musicians. Red FM’s Colm O’ Sullivan will be there playing tunes with Letycha Le’Synn making an appearance too. Gates open at 1 pm. Alan Hynes Drift Car Driver from Buttevant
Buttervant native Alan talks to Dave about how he made the move from playing video games to being a professional drifter. It all came about from his interest in car racing video games and he decided that he would like to try racing for real. If you’d like to witness drifting for yourself you can do so at Kart World in Watergrasshill this weekend. With a birds eye view of cars racing up to 150 km per hour. This spectacle is happening on Sat 23rd and Sunday 24th of July. With gates at 10 am.

Seán talks ecology at Tramore Valley Park
Seán from Fuinneamh Workshop Architects chats with Dave, Fuinneamh being the Irish for energy. Seán and his team are setting out to construct a rammed earth building which is made using bio-degradable materials such as timber and sub soil in Tramore Valley Park, the first of it’s kind in Ireland. It’s part of the Kinship project, Cork City Council have teamed up with Creative Ireland in order to build an Eco Lab with the aim of allowing members for the public to congregate in order to discuss ecology within the park. The project is currently under construction with the hope of it being completed by September. Des chats about the Blackrock Village Festival taking place on July 16th
Des discusses the Blackrock Village Festival which happening tomorrow in the Plaza from 2-6. It’s an event with Food, Fun and good weather as well as plenty of activities to keep your kids occupied. Such as a Teddy Bear’s Picnic and exercises at the Green Area, it’s now the proposed spot for a playground. If that’s not enough there’s music from the likes of Hank Wedel and Declan Sinnott as well a Jazz Band and Irish Dancing. All done with the assistance of the local community in Blackrock. Dominic chats with us ahead of the Rebelettes under 16 All-Ireland Final
Dominic spoke with us less than an hour before the Cork Ladies under 16 Footballers faced Dublin. He spoke about taking on Kerry in the Munster Final and Cavan in the All-Ireland semi final, and how they had to dig deep in the championship so far. Congratulations to the Cork under 16 Ladies for making it to the All Ireland final this year.

Kieran chats to us in the middle of Volvo Cork Week, where there’s a large crowd gathering under less than ideal conditions for racing, due to the lack of wind. However it’s not all bad with Sun forecast throughout the rest of the week it will create a sea breeze. There’s plenty on offer including a Classic Yacht Regatta, Cork Week Ladies Day with Amy Huberman and Brendan Courtney all wrapped up with a big party on Friday night. It’s an event that attracts boats from all over the world. Including Hong Kong, US and UK all congregating in the oldest Yacht Club in the World.

Finn van der Aar chats about taking part in Volvo Cork Week
Now living in Bundoran, Finn speaks with Dave ahead of her return to Cork, which is where she studied Marine Biology in UCC. Finn is back in town for the Volvo Cork Week, which was initially supposed to happen in 2020. It’s taking place in the home of the 2nd biggest natural harbour in the world. Kicking off the week is a Family Fun Day on Sunday in Crosshaven.
