Republic of Ireland defender Megan Connolly says the side are very happy with their draw with Sweden.

Katie McCabe’s deflected shot gave Ireland an unexpected lead in Gothenburg, with the hosts only levelling eleven minutes from time.

The point means Ireland are in charge of their own destiny as it relates to securing a World Cup playoff.

Connolly says they were determined to take whatever they could from the game.

"Obviously Sweden are the top seeds, they're the favourites and obviously they qualify tonight by getting the draw.

"But I think for us it was just doing the very best we could you know, everyone left it out on the pitch everyone did absolutely everything they could to try secure the win when we had the goal, but we'll take a draw for for how good they are and for the goal obviously they showed their quality.

"You know we can't get too high on this. But yeah, we just have to get focused again when June comes and just try to get another good result and then put ourselves in the best position against Finland, Slovakia."
