Stephen Kenny’s side turned in an excellent performance to see off Qatar 4-0 in a friendly at the Aviva Stadium, Callum Robinson scoring Ireland’s first senior men’s hat trick since 2014, with Shane Duffy scoring the fourth.
It’s the first time in two years this Ireland side have won back to back matches s- and next up is the visit of Portugal.
Kenny is delighted with his players.
"It was a very good performance. I think the players were really very excellent overall.
"It just shows you their technical quality, and confidence can be important and belief can be important.
"We're improving as a team, and we still have a lot of improving to do, but today was really good."
Elsewhere Cristiano Ronaldo scored a hat-trick as Portugal beat Luxembourg 5-nil in Faro.
But Serbia remain top of World Cup qualifying Group A courtesy of their 3-1 win at home to Azerbaijan.
