Crazy scenes in France last night as OGC Nice vs Marseille was abandoned with 15 minutes to go after fans came on to the pitch.
It all started when Marseille player Dimitri Payet was it with a missile from the home fans, and when the Frenchman retaliated and threw the bottle back into the crowd, a number of Nice fans stormed the pitch.
Even more unsavoury scenes followed when players were clearly in danger with the on running fans, and both sidelines rushed to the field to get involved. A member of the Marseille staff appeared to strike a spectator in the melee.
Nice were leading 1-0 before what turned out to be a 90 minute delay. When the Nice players and match officials returned to the pitch to restart the game, the incensed Marseille players and staff refused to go back out and the game was abandoned.
