UEFA has confirmed that is to investigate the video of the post match celebrations of the Republic of Ireland Women’s Squad.

The video emerged after the World Cup playoff win over Scotland at Hampden Park, where players sang a pro-IRA chant.

The FAI and boss Vera Pauw apologised yesterday.

Now European football’s governing body says that an ethics and disciplinary inspector will look into “potential inappropriate behaviour”.

According to the the Scottish Daily Express, Police Scotland are also investigating the footage.

The FAI have released a statement acknowledging UEFA’s investigation, again apologising for any offence caused and saying that will continue to review the situation and ensure that their international players and staff across all teams are aware of their responisbilities.

The FAI's statement in full reads:

"The Football Association of Ireland notes that UEFA is to conduct an investigation around the Scotland v Republic of Ireland 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup Qualifying Play-Off at Hampden Park on Tuesday night."The FAI again apologises for any offence caused and we will continue to review this situation accordingly to ensure that our international players and staff, across all of our teams, are aware of their responsibilities."
