Waterford have terminated the contract of their manager Marc Bircham just three days before their promotion/relegation play-off against UCD.
Bircham tweeted this morning to say that he had been suspended for a week by the club after 'a difference of opinion' with the owner.
Waterford have now taken the decision to end Bircham's term in the south east.
Having been appointed in May, the Englishman signed a two-year contract in August.
In a very brief statement on Twitter, Waterford said:
"Waterford FC have terminated the contract of Marc Bircham. The club will be making no further comment at this time."
Bircham meanwhile has published his own statement on social media, saying:
"After a Brief TEXT conversation with the owner last night, and a difference of opinion on a couple of matters I have surprisingly been given a 1 week suspension meaning I will no longer be able to manage the team Friday night in the Big play off game!
