A soldier has appeared at a special sitting of Cork District Court after up to €25,000 worth of cocaine was discovered at Collins Barracks in Cork city.
34-year-old Shane Scanlon of Cooline Heights, Ballyvoloon, Cobh, county Cork is charged with two offences.
Irish Defence Forces member Shane Scanlon is charged with cocaine possession and with cocaine possession for the purpose of selling or otherwise supplying it to another at Old Youghal Road in Cork on the 27th of March.
The special sitting yesterday heard evidence of arrest, charge and caution from Garda Derry O’Brien from Anglesea Street Garda Station.
Judge John King remanded Shane Scanlon on bail- he is due to appear before the court again on the 15th of July.
