Military police along with the Gardaí conducted a search of his accommodation block at the Barracks in Cork and a military vehicle
A quantity of drugs and cash were discovered during the search, leading to the arrest of the solider by Gardaí
A military vehicle has also been seized for technical examination
It's understood that the Defence Forces member who was arrested had recently driven the vehicle.
The Defence Forces say this is now a Garda matter and Military Police will assist with the investigation
