SouthDoc is to enhance their services in Macroom and Clonakility in the New Year.
The out of hours GP service is to provide a dedicated Home Visit division for patients unable to attend a Treatment Centre.
Macroom will remain by appointment only and Clonakilty will operate as normal during the week and between 9am and 6pm at the weekends, with Locum Doctor cover provided from Bandon.
The HSE says the streamlining of the service is in response to the continuing shortage of GPs and resultant growing risk of burnout of GPs who continue to provide a day-time service in these areas.
