Cork is recording a 32% rise in the money spent in pubs across the city and county in the month of July.
Spending across the entire hospitality sector in the county last month reflected rising national trends with a 31% jump in spending in the hotel sector and 12% rise in restaurants.
The increase in spending is being attributed to the good weather in July, the reopening of the sector and increased roll out of the Covid 19 vaccine.
Ray Kelleher of the Montenotte Hotel told RedFM News that business in the city has been very strong.
"There was a sentiment that cities would not see the levels of business that more rural, regional areas around the Wild Atlantic Way or Ireland's Ancient East might, but we've been pleasantly surprised by the level of business that we've received from the staycation market so we've been very happy with that.
"The number one market is still Dublin, but the number two market is Cork."
