Staff of a preschool which closed its doors on the northside of the city say they've accepted that they are now unemployed.
The former Before 5 Family Centre in Churchfield announced its closure last month by sending a text to 14 staff and the parents of 100 preschoolers due to start the following week.
Northside Community Enterprises announced they would be taking over the childcare facility but said yesterday they won't be opening until sometime next year.
Speaking to RedFM News, former staff member Christine Mullins says workers at the centre have now cleaned out their lockers and applied for statutory redundancy:
"We're still in the same position we were in when the place closed down in August. We were never guaranteed our jobs back, we will just have to go through the whole interview process again, whenever that was to be, so yes we're all unemployed. We're definitely unemployed now because we're in limbo to be honest with you like we don't know what's happening with regards to the 2024 reopening. So the staff were unemployed."
