A college student has claimed that the owners of a house he was renting burst into his bedroom, dragged him from the bed and threw him out on the street in his underwear.

The owners of the house who are a father and son are facing identical charges of assaulting a man and a woman.

Cork District Court heard that George Pendle and 5 others were renting 4 Nursery View on Glasheen Road, Cork last Summer.

Mr Pendle said Daniel and Donal Lynch, aged 62 and 32, of Moanmore, Castleisland, Co Kerry burst into his room on the 11th of August 2022, manhandled him and accused him of not paying rent.

Mr Pendle said he had not paid rent because the letting agent hadn’t come back to the tenants with a price yet.

The letting agent Mark Gosling told the court he had assumed the students had left the property for the summer.

In Garda interviews, Daniel and Donal Lynch who own the property said they thought the property was empty and met at the house to change the locks and only went into the property when they heard noises.

The case was adjourned for mention today to fix a date to hear its conclusion.
